Early in the morning of this Tuesday, January 7th 2025, warplanes of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) militia, together with the Islamic terrorist movement, resumed their devastating aerial bombardments on the residential neighborhoods in the city of Nyala. In a ruthless escalation, they also targeted a shelter for displaced persons in Fataberno area of North Darfur, resulting in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of innocent civilians.
For a full hour, the terrorists' warplanes relentlessly targeted civilians' homes and public gatherings in Nyala. The indiscriminate aerial bombardments spread terror among innocent women and children. More than 10-barrel bombs were dropped on separate areas, causing widespread devastation to homes and shops. Casualties and damages are still being verified. Furthermore, dozens of people were reported killed or injured in the shelling of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Fataberno, in Kutum locality. The attack has resulted in significant loss of life and injuries, all amid a critical shortage of emergency medical services.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) strongly reiterate their condemnation of the aerial bombardments, crimes committed against unarmed civilians. They reaffirm that these grave crimes of systematic genocide against the Sudanese communities will be brought before international justice, corroborated by evidence to hold the terrorist perpetrators, led by the "Port Sudan gang," accountable.
Our forces remain resolute in their courageous struggle, determined to restore the rights of the marginalized people by dismantling the terrorist organization at its core. We are committed to re-establishing the Sudanese state on new and fair foundations that eliminate injustice and marginalization for all Sudanese people.
